KUWAIT CITY, June 8: Al-Arabi Club has announced that first team player Bandar Salama will not require surgery. Following an assessment by his German doctor, it was confirmed that Salama needs a specialized knee-strengthening program lasting two months, after which he will resume regular training.
Salama sustained a severe injury during a match against Kuwait in the Zain Premier League, resulting in a partial tear of the lateral ligament in his knee. Consequently, he traveled to Germany for medical examinations, which determined that a 60-day physical therapy program would suffice for his recovery.
Salama is set to commence knee-strengthening exercises under the German doctor's supervision this week. He aims to be fully prepared for the new season, ready to support both Al-Arabi and the Kuwaiti national team, from which he has been absent due to his injury. Previously, Salama suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the season before last and also endured a collarbone fracture. Despite these setbacks, he made a strong comeback last season.
On the local club front, 10 players are likely to leave Al-Qadisiya before the new season starts. Their chances of remaining with the team have diminished, especially following the new regulation reducing the team roster to 25 players.
Among those expected to be released are Nayef Zuwaid, Abdulaziz Nassari, Dhari Saeed, Sultan Salbukh, Talal Al-Ansari, and Abdullah Al-Shamali. Additionally, several players are set to be loaned out for the season, including Ahmed Shabib, Meshal Khaled, Khaled Sabah, and Muhammad Khalil. Abdullah Mawi was the first to leave, joining Al-Fahaheel immediately after the end of the past season.
Al-Nasr's goalkeeper and captain, Mohamed Hadi, bid farewell to his club the day before yesterday. Hadi announced his departure from "Al-Annabi" after the conclusion of the past season. The former international goalkeeper has not yet revealed his next destination.
