KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: Today marks the conclusion of the seventh round of the Zain Premier League, featuring two exciting matches. In the first match, Al-Arabi faces Al-Yarmouk at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium at 5:40 p.m., while the second match sees Kazma take on Khaitan at Al-Sadaka and Al-Salam Stadium at 8:00 pm.
Al-Arabi, currently with 15 points, is eager to bounce back after suffering its only defeat of the season, a 0-2 loss to Kuwait Club in the last round. A win today is crucial for Al-Arabi to stay close to the league leader and to boost team morale ahead of its upcoming participation in the Asian Challenge Cup, where it will host the second group competitions starting next Saturday.
Conversely, Al-Yarmouk, sitting at the bottom of the standings with just 3 points, is in search of its first victory this season after drawing three matches and losing three others.
In the other matchup, Kazma, currently in eighth place with 4 points, is determined to secure a victory to restore its balance and distance itself from the danger zone. It aims for its second win of the season after four losses, one draw, and just one victory.
The “Orange” team has struggled to find consistent form since the start of the competition, delivering underwhelming performances in most of their six previous matches.
Meanwhile, Khaitan, positioned seventh in the standings with 5 points, seeks to capitalize on Kazma’s struggles and clinch its second victory of the season, which would help it avoid slipping further into the danger zone.
In the opening match of the seventh round, Tadamon managed to come back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Fahaheel.
With this result, Fahaheel increased its points tally to 11, while Tadamon now has 8 points.
Fahaheel took an early lead through a fortuitous own goal by Khaitan player Mohammed Alian in the fourth minute. Abdul Mohsen Al-Ajmi’s attempt to pass to William Baroy inadvertently deflected off Alian and found its way into goalkeeper Dawood Al-Khalidi's net.
Abdullah Mawi extended Fahaheel's lead in the 17th minute with a powerful long-range shot that found the back of Al-Khalidi's net.
Tadamon had a chance to equalize earlier in the match, but Fahad Al-Rashidi missed a penalty kick. However, they managed to reduce the deficit in the 37th minute when they headed a cross into goalkeeper Ahmed Aadi’s net.
Senegalese forward Ibrahim Jay capitalized on a pass from Syrian teammate Ahmed Al-Dali just before halftime, dribbling past Fahaheel’s defense and scoring the equalizer. The second half saw both teams play cautiously, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
