KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 13: Al-Arabi has completed its foreign-player recruitment for the 2026-27 handball season with the signing of Portuguese player Francisco Silva.

Silva joins South Korean Jinho Kim to complete the club’s foreign contingent as Al-Arabi looks to build a stronger squad and compete for domestic honors after falling short of expectations in recent seasons.

The club has also brought in several experienced Kuwaiti players, signing Hamoud Qaed Al-Adwani, Salman Al-Sanad, Ahmed Abdulhadi, Abdullah Al-Saffar, Mohammed Amer, and Abdullah Al-Mutawa.

The new arrivals are expected to increase competition for places and give coach Hussein Habib greater tactical options.

Al-Arabi has already begun preparations for the new season while completing the remaining fixtures from the previous campaign. Training has initially focused on improving fitness and rebuilding team cohesion following the recent interruption to competitions.

The Al-Akhdar will play their first friendly tonight against Al-Sulaibikhat at the hosts’ court. The match will allow Habib to assess the players’ fitness, introduce the new signings, and evaluate their understanding with the rest of the squad.

Further friendly matches will provide the coach with opportunities to test different formations and settle on his starting lineup ahead of the official competitions.
