KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: Al-Arabi Club’s Board of Directors, led by Abdulaziz Ashour, has moved to renew the contracts of several first-team players in a bid to retain the squad’s core and enhance stability, as the club pushes for domestic titles this season.
The club extended the contracts of Sulaiman Abdulghafour, Bandar Al-Salama, Yousef Majed, Ali Abdulrasool, Mohammed Khaled, Khaled Al-Murshid, and Salman Al-Awadhi, reinforcing the backbone of the team.
The renewals came following a recommendation from head coach Nasser Al-Shatti, who is keen on maintaining squad continuity—especially with Al-Arabi firmly in the Zain Premier League title race. The team currently occupies second place with 23 points, just three points behind the leader and defending champion, Kuwait Club.
On the foreign players’ front, Al-Arabi remains in talks with several professionals, most notably Bahraini international Kamil Al-Aswad, whom the club is eager to re-sign after his impressive spell last season.
Meanwhile, Christopher John and Hasimi Fadiga are the leading candidates to depart the “Green Castle” should agreements be finalized with new foreign signings.
In a related development, the club honored Badr Tareq for reaching 200 appearances and Abdullah Ammar for completing 100 matches in Al-Arabi colors during a brief ceremony held before the recent training session.
