CAIRO, June 21: Al Ahly SC’s board has begun revisiting its financial policies as part of a broader plan to regulate spending and reorganize the football department’s wage structure, including the introduction of a salary cap for players.
The shift comes at a time when several stars are attracting lucrative offers from clubs in the Gulf and abroad, creating a challenge for the club to balance sporting ambitions with financial discipline.
According to sports journalist Amir Hisham, the club’s football decision-makers—Yassin Mansour, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, and Wael Gomaa—have agreed on a strict wage framework after identifying some highly valued contracts within the squad.
The new policy sets player salaries between 20 and 25 million Egyptian pounds per year, with performance-related bonuses potentially adding up to 8 million pounds. This means a player’s maximum annual earnings could reach 32 million pounds, provided all major titles are achieved. The management has reportedly made it clear that the policy will be enforced without exception.
The financial restructuring is already influencing transfer activity, with reports indicating that Al Ahly has received a serious offer from a Gulf club for star winger Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet.
