Al-Abdali records highest rainfall in Kuwait at 34.8 mm, Al-Jahra lowest at 4 mm
Al-Abdali recorded the highest rainfall in Kuwait on Sunday at 34.8 mm, the Meteorological Department reported.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: Kuwait experienced light to moderate rainfall across several areas on Sunday, with Al-Abdali recording the highest accumulation at 34.8 millimeters, the Kuwait Meteorological Department reported.

Acting Director Dharar Al-Ali said the Al-Sabriya area recorded 14.1 mm, while coastal stations reported lower amounts, with Ras Al-Salmiya at 8.9 mm and Al-Rayah at 8.5 mm. Kuwait International Airport recorded 7.1 mm, Mazraat Al-Abraq 5 mm, and Al-Jahra the lowest at 4 mm.

Al-Ali explained that rainfall was caused by a surface low-pressure system coinciding with a deeper upper-level low, which weakened gradually from Sunday morning. This allowed a high-pressure system to dominate, resulting in lower temperatures and wind speeds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour.

He added that the Meteorology Department, under the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, continues to monitor weather conditions closely and provides official reports to public authorities and residents to ensure safety.
