TEHRAN, April 6 (AP): An airstrike struck an information and communication technology facility at Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology on Monday morning, disrupting online learning and damaging parts of the campus, according to a university professor.

Mohammed Vesal, an economics professor at Sharif University, told a visiting Associated Press team that the attack caused severe damage to the university’s digital infrastructure. “All web services of the university are down now because of this violent attack on our infrastructure,” he said. “This is a purely academic institution.”

Vesal added that all students had already left the campus due to the continuing war.

Sharif University of Technology is widely regarded as Iran’s premier engineering institution. However, it has been sanctioned by several countries over its alleged cooperation with Iran’s military and its role in research linked to the nation’s ballistic missile program, which is overseen by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

No immediate comment was available from Iranian authorities on the strike.
