Airport security, ‘bedoun’ on agenda

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports Affairs Major-General Mazen Al-Jarrah left for London with a security delegation for a meeting on security issues with the British counterpart, reports Al-Rai daily.

The delegation is part of the Kuwait- British security friendship that holds regular meetings in London and Kuwait in security issues. Al-Jarrah said, besides the security aspect, the visit aims at discussing a number of issues, most notably the airport security, protection of aircraft, the security of electronic passports and to discuss the issue of the stateless (bedoun), and other issues such as special facilities to be offered to Foreign Ministry staff and holders of electronic passports.

As for the issue of bedoun, Al-Jarrah added the British officials who are concerned with the bedoun file have agreed to hand over the bedoun if they are registered with the Central System for Remedying Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR), and holders of passports under the article (17).
