KUWAIT CITY, Mar 1: Some airports across the Middle East remained closed on Sunday as the conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran entered its second day, disrupting regional air travel and stranding tens of thousands of passengers.
In Kuwait, operations at Kuwait International Airport were temporarily suspended after a drone strike hit Terminal 1, causing minor material damage and injuring nine workers. Authorities evacuated passenger terminals as a precaution, diverted inbound flights to alternative airports and activated emergency response protocols before beginning damage assessments and repair plans.
In Bahrain, an attack drone also struck Bahrain International Airport early Sunday, resulting in limited damage and four injuries, according to officials. Emergency procedures were swiftly implemented, including precautionary evacuation measures and enhanced security inspections to safeguard facilities and operations.
Elsewhere, Emirates suspended all flights to and from Dubai until at least Sunday afternoon, while Qatar Airways said Doha’s airport would remain closed until at least Monday morning. Israeli airspace also remained shut as regional tensions escalated.
