WASHINGTON, Jun 28: The United States and Iran have agreed to halt military strikes and hold a new round of talks later this week, Axios reported on Sunday, citing US officials.

The reported understanding comes after days of escalating tensions and military exchanges between the two countries.

Earlier, an Iranian official said Tehran did not participate in technical talks scheduled for Sunday, citing recent attacks on Iran and what it described as unfulfilled conditions under the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.

The official said the latest developments had affected the planned discussions, while diplomatic efforts continue to revive the process aimed at reducing tensions and reaching a broader agreement.
