Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27: Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari held an inspection tour of the “Affordable Housing” project, which is one of the largest housing developments being implemented by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW). Present during the inspection tour was the acting Director General of PAHW Rashid Al-Enezi, Head of the Women’s Housing Committee Sheikha Bibi Al-Yousef, several senior authority officials, and heads of the engineering teams.

The minister reviewed work progress and completion rates across the project’s various contracts. A presentation of the progress revealed that actual completion rates for several contracts have exceeded the approved schedule, reflecting efficient implementation and effective onsite technical supervision. In a press release, PAHW explained that its engineering team provided the minister with a detailed briefing on the project’s components.

The “Affordable Housing” project is being developed west of Kuwait City as part of the state’s planned urban expansion. It includes around 9,800 residential units, along with an integrated network of 74 public and service facilities. These facilities include 16 mosques, an imam’s residence, two health centers, two central markets, two gas distribution centers, two police stations, two community development centers, two social service units, a telephone exchange, an ambulance center, a senior citizens’ center, and a fire station.

Each housing unit has a floor area of 200 square meters, while the total built-up area of each unit is approximately 350 square meters. Two basic design models with eight different facades are being used, ensuring architectural diversity while maintaining privacy and meeting the needs of modern families. PAHW affirmed that the project is progressing rapidly, with an increased workforce, multiple active construction sites, and strict adherence to high-quality standards in all aspects of the work. It highlighted that Minister Abdullatif Al- Mishari praised the advanced level of work achieved and the efforts exerted by the PAHW teams, contractors, and consultants. He also emphasized the importance of continuous onsite monitoring of housing projects, accelerating the pace of completion, and adhering to schedules to meet citizens’ aspirations and support the state’s development goals
