KUWAIT CITY, Oct 4. The Kuwait Volleyball Association’s Competitions Committee has ruled Al-Arabi’s first match against Yarmouk a 3-0 loss following Yarmouk’s protest over the participation of Yousef Mandil, who was ineligible.
The protest cited a suspension carried over from Mandil’s previous club, Burgan, during the season. He had been banned for two matches, but had only served one, leaving one match still pending. Mandil should not have played for Al-Arabi in the season opener, leading to the forfeiture of the three points the team initially earned from their 3-0 win.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Club climbed to the top of the Federation Championship standings after a straight-sets victory over Al-Shabab (25-21, 25-23, 25-15), giving them nine points, while Al-Shabab fell to fourth place with five points.
Other Round 6 results saw Yarmouk defeat Al-Nasr 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-21). In Round 5 matches last Thursday, Kazma beat Qadisiya 3-0, and Al-Arabi narrowly overcame Burgan 3-2.
The updated standings for the Federation Championship :
Kuwait Club: 9 points
Kazma and Yarmouk: 6 points each
Al-Shabab and Burgan: 5 points each
Qadsia and Al-Arabi: 2 points each
Sulaibikhat: 1 point
Al-Nasr: 0 points
