LOS ANGELES, Oct 30, (Agencies): Adele halted her Las Vegas performance to pay a heartfelt tribute to Matthew Perry shortly after his unfortunate passing on Saturday, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The renowned British singer-songwriter, aged 35, admitted that she had never crossed paths with Perry during her lifetime but expressed her enduring admiration for his portrayal of the beloved character, Chandler Bing, on the hit sitcom “Friends.” Adele told the audience at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, the venue for her Vegas residency, that she would cherish Perry’s comedic character for the rest of her life.

Matthew Perry, aged 54, famously played the lovable goofball Chandler Bing on the NBC series from 1994 to 2004. Preliminary reports suggest that Perry met an accidental drowning in his Los Angeles home’s hot tub.

Adele, dressed as Morticia Addams for her Las Vegas show, took a moment during her performance to honor Matthew Perry while introducing her song “When We Were Young.”

In her tribute, Adele also acknowledged Perry’s courageous battle with addiction and sobriety, emphasizing the importance of his openness regarding these struggles. The singer, who recently disclosed her own decision to quit drinking, commended Perry’s bravery.

Matthew Perry had previously addressed his struggles with addiction in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” In the book, he revealed a particularly dark period during the ten seasons of “Friends” when he was consuming a staggering 55 Vicodin pills a day.

Perry reflected on his inability to stop, noting that the disease of addiction is progressive and becomes more challenging to overcome with time. He described how, even in the face of legal consequences, he couldn’t cease his destructive behavior, underscoring the relentless nature of addiction.
