NEW YORK, Oct 12: US actress Selma Blair was taken into custody Sunday night after allegedly assaulting flight crew members aboard a Delta Air Lines flight arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Fox News reported Monday.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey told Fox News that officers responded to a report of a “physically abusive passenger” aboard the domestic flight, which had departed from Los Angeles.

Authorities intervened at around 11 pm local time Sunday, following the aircraft’s arrival at JFK Airport. Police identified the suspect as Blair, 54, and said she was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Two flight attendants sustained injuries during the incident, authorities said. One crew member required hospital treatment for medical evaluation.

Celebrity news outlet TMZ separately reported that Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while being transported to the hospital and assaulted a nurse after arriving at the facility.

A representative for Blair told TMZ that the incident was triggered by a sudden medical emergency, saying the actress experienced a health crisis that led to the behaviour before she received medical attention.

Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018. She has been in remission since 2021 following chemotherapy and other treatments, although reports have indicated that she continues to experience fatigue and other lingering effects of the condition.
