KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: The First Circuit of the Court of Cassation issued a final and binding ruling, upholding the life sentence imposed on a man in his 60s and a woman for kidnapping a 13-year-old girl, assaulting her, and forcing her to consume drugs and alcohol, up to the point that she lost consciousness. This life sentence was initially handed down by the Criminal Court after finding the two defendants guilty of kidnapping, assault and forcible administration of substances.
The Court of Appeals then upheld the sentence, which the Court of Cassation confirmed by rejecting the final appeal of the defendants. In a separate aspect of the case, the court confirmed the acquittal of the victim’s father, who was charged with sexually assaulting his daughter in a case filed by Attorney Athbi Al-Kandari, representing the mother of the victim. The father was acquitted due to insufficient evidence that did not meet the conclusive proof standard required for a conviction.
