KHARTOUM, Oct 31: Sudanese paramilitary forces have arrested Abu Lulu, a commander filmed executing an injured man in El Fasher, following the city’s capture by the Rapid Support Forces (R.S.F.) last weekend. The video, verified by The New York Times, showed Abu Lulu shooting a lone survivor amidst burning vehicles and scattered bodies, sparking global outrage.
The R.S.F. acknowledged some troop abuses in a statement by its leader, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan, and promised to hold those responsible accountable. Abu Lulu’s arrest marks the first public action taken against individuals shown committing atrocities in the besieged city, where thousands of civilians remain trapped or fleeing, and humanitarian conditions are dire.
