Abu Dhabi Customs is set to introduce a state-of-the-art robot capable of reading body language and recognizing faces at the airport.

ABU DHABI, Oct 21, (Agencies): In a move to enhance airport customs procedures, Abu Dhabi Customs is set to introduce a state-of-the-art robot capable of reading body language and recognizing faces at Abu Dhabi Airport.

Mohammed Al Hammadi, Senior Customs Controller at Abu Dhabi Customs, revealed to Gulf News that the robot is slated to be put into service in the near future. This technological marvel is powered by artificial intelligence (AI), assisting customs officers in gathering comprehensive traveler information efficiently.

The robot boasts the remarkable capability to assess the body language and facial expressions of a group of five to seven individuals simultaneously, even from a considerable distance of six meters. This innovation not only expedites the customs process but also enhances travelers' overall experience.

Furthermore, the AI system integrated into the robot enables it to interact with travelers in their preferred language, answering their queries and providing assistance, including aiding passengers with cash disclosures via the Tam platform, as disclosed by Al Hammadi.

Equipped with advanced cameras and sensors, the robot can gauge travelers' satisfaction with the service offered, determine their gender, and estimate their age, adding a new dimension to the customs process.

As a glimpse into the future, the robot's role is poised to expand to include customs clearance for goods, promising a more efficient and technology-driven approach to customs operations.
