A strategic deal signed between Al-Duwaisan and Al-Majed.

KUWAIT CITY, July 6: In a pioneering step aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting sports, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) and Suffix signed a three-year strategic partnership agreement to launch the ABK Tour cycling race from 2026 to 2028, marking the first initiative of its kind in Kuwait.

This strategic partnership represents a significant milestone and a turning point in Kuwait’s community initiatives landscape, combining the financial strength and extensive reach of the banking sector with the operational expertise and innovative capabilities of the private sector.

The collaboration reflects a model for creating a sustainable environment that enhances quality of life and community well-being. By launching Kuwait’s first cycling event of its kind, both parties will strengthen their leadership in corporate social responsibility, reinforce their position as drivers of positive change, generate meaningful economic and social impact, and create new opportunities for investment and development that support Kuwait’s national vision.

The agreement was signed at ABK’s Head Office by ABK’s Acting Chief Executive Officer – Kuwait, Ahmad AlDuwaisan, and Chief Operating Officer of Suffix, Ahmed Al Majed, in the presence of Dr. Abdulaziz Jawad, ABK’s Chief Strategy Officer at ABK, Sager Albenali, ABK’s Chief Communications Officer, along with representatives from both organizations.

The partnership will introduce a unique sporting experience unlike any previously held in Kuwait. More than just a competitive cycling race, the event will serve as an integrated platform that promotes health awareness, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.

The race will feature categories for professional cyclists, amateurs, and families to encourage broad community participation. Valuable prizes will be awarded to top finishers, while the event will also include a variety of activities, such as entertainment programs, free medical check-ups, and educational workshops on nutrition and cycling road safety.

An Exceptional Initiative

On this occasion, AlDuwaisan said, “We are delighted to organize this exceptional initiative, which reflects our unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and to investing in the health and well-being of our community. This race is more than just a sporting event; it is an invitation to embrace a more active and vibrant lifestyle in Kuwait.”

He added, “This initiative holds exceptional significance as it represents a tangible expression of our steadfast commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, which are a cornerstone of ABK’s identity and long-term strategy. It also reflects our belief that our role extends beyond providing financial solutions to creating lasting environmental and social impact.”

AlDuwaisan highlighted the importance of the race as an innovative platform for raising awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions, encourage environmentally friendly practices, and invest in initiatives that enhance quality of life while contributing to a more sustainable future for Kuwait.

He continued, “Our partnership with Suffix goes beyond traditional sports sponsorship. We are not simply launching a cycling race; we are helping build a new community culture that places health and sustainability at its core. As a leading financial institution, we believe that genuine, sustainable investment begins with investing in people and their well-being. Through this exceptional initiative, we aim to inspire young people and encourage society to adopt a more active and positive lifestyle.”

He added, “We are proud to lead this transformation and promise an exceptional event that will strengthen Kuwait’s position on the map of innovative sporting initiatives while further reinforcing ABK’s leadership across multiple levels.”

Al Duwaisan noted that organizing this unique initiative stems from the Bank’s belief in the power of private sector collaboration to serve the community. He explained that the partnership combines ABK’s strengths with Suffix’s operational expertise to deliver a model for developing innovative, high-impact initiatives that create lasting value for Kuwaiti society.

He further stated, “We view this initiative as the foundation of a long-term vision to make community sports an integral part of Kuwait’s cultural identity. At ABK, we remain committed to supporting and developing projects that promote human development and quality of life while contributing to Kuwait’s national development vision of building a healthy, dynamic, innovative, and productive society.”

Concluding his remarks, AlDuwaisan said, “Launching this first-of-its-kind race marks an important milestone in strengthening ABK’s role as an active partner within the fabric of Kuwaiti society. It also reinforces our identity as an innovative brand that resonates with younger generations, helping us strengthen our relationship with customers and build lasting trust, while continuing to lead positive change and sustainable development in the local market.”

A Shared Vision

For his part, Al Majed expressed his pride in the partnership between Suffix and ABK, saying, “We are united by a shared vision of innovation and community service. We are proud to be part of this first-of-its-kind initiative, which aims to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transport and an excellent way to enhance physical fitness for people of all ages and backgrounds in Kuwait.”

He added, “Signing this partnership with a leading financial institution of the caliber of ABK marks a significant milestone in our journey to becoming a leader in innovative events and community initiatives. We see this unique race as an ideal opportunity to transform our ambitious vision into a tangible reality that benefits society. By combining our operational expertise with the Bank’s sustainable vision, we will deliver a world-class event worthy of Kuwait.”

He continued, “Over the next three years, Suffix will leverage its full logistical and technical capabilities to deliver the race to the highest standards of professionalism and excellence. We will implement the latest smart crowd management systems and route safety measures, while providing an integrated interactive experience for both participants and spectators, making this event a benchmark for sports and recreational event management.”

Al Majed emphasized that the true value of this initiative lies in its ability to inspire people to break away from their daily routines and embrace healthier, more active lifestyles. He noted that the event is not designed solely for professional athletes, but also aims to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where families and young people can enjoy cycling as a source of recreation, community engagement, and physical well-being, ultimately contributing to an improved quality of life.

Concluding his remarks, Al Majed said, “We hope this first-of-its-kind race will mark the beginning of a series of joint initiatives with ABK. Our ambition extends far beyond the success of a single event; we aim to build a sustainable partnership driven by continuous innovation, enabling us to deliver impactful initiatives that leave a lasting positive mark on Kuwaiti society while supporting the country’s development plans in the fields of sports, health, and clean energy.”

Further details regarding the inaugural 2026 ABK Tour, including the event date, race routes, and the official registration process, will be announced jointly by ABK and Suffix in due course.
