KUWAIT CITY, Dec 12: The Meteorological Department of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation has released detailed rainfall data following Thursday’s weather activity, confirming significant variations in precipitation across different regions of Kuwait. According to the department, the highest rainfall was recorded in the Al-Abdali area, which received 24.3 mm, while the lowest amount was observed in Al-Jahra, with only 5.4 mm.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Friday that the country had been influenced over the past several days by a low-pressure system combined with a deep upper-atmospheric trough. This weather pattern resulted in rainfall of varying intensity—sometimes accompanied by thunder—across multiple areas, continuing into Thursday.
Al-Ali noted that data collected from the department’s automated weather monitoring stations reflected these varying levels of precipitation. Following Al-Abdali, the second-highest rainfall was recorded in Al-Rabia at 10.9 mm, followed by Al-Abraq Farm with 10.1 mm.
Additional measurements showed 9 mm of rain in the Ras Al-Salmiya area, 8.4 mm at Kuwait International Airport, and 8.3 mm in Al-Wafra. The lowest recorded amount, 5.4 mm, was documented in Al-Jahra.
