Guided by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, the series is jointly hosted by China Cultural Center in Kuwait and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broacast-TV, and Tourism, with undertaking by the Chengdu International Cultural Exchange Center.
The events initiative aimed to deepen cultural exchanges between China and Kuwait, foster mutual understanding, and present both the richness of traditional Chinese culture and the dynamism of modern China.

On the evening of September 16, the Avenues Mall—Kuwait’s landmark shopping complex—is transformed into a stage for a half-hour flash performance. Local shoppers and visitors gathered to watch a lively showcase that included the poetic dance “Happy Rain on a Spring Night”, innovative new folk music with martial arts Changquan, Sichuan opera’s famed face-changing, the acrobatic “Bronze Secrets”, and martial arts Dao Techniques. The immersive performances, delivered by artists from Chengdu, draw enthusiastic applause among spectators.

The centerpiece of the series, the “A Moonmoment to Remember · Blossoms of Chengdu” themed performance, is held on September 17 with the audience over 1,000. The entire performance brought together Chinese traditional and modern arts, such as dance, new folk music, acrobatics, martial arts, Sichuan opera, and traditional Chinese magic. Martial arts “Dao Techniques” shows nature of bold and power; foot juggling “Foot Drumming” tells the skillful nature of folk artistry; Sichuan opera “Face Changing” reveals the inner thoughts and feelings of the characters; and centuries-old traditional Chinese magic shows the wisdom of folk art. The evening concluded with “Home of Giant Pandas”, a dance underscoring the idea of love as a spiritual link between humanity and nature.

The themed performance not only highlights the depth and diversity of Chinese culture but also introduced audiences to Chengdu’s tourism offerings, showcasing the city’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and modern vibrancy.

Alongside the performances, the themed tourism and culture promotion exhibition “Chengdu: more than giant pandas” and the Chengdu Intangible Cultural Heritage showcase are launched. Featuring panda-themed sculptures, paintings, photography, VR experiences, and interactive displays, the exhibition presents Chengdu as the “hometown of the giant panda” from different dimensions like cultural, tourism and heritage resources. It will remain open to the public at the China Cultural Center in Kuwait from September 18 to October 17.
The intangible heritage section offered live demonstrations by master artisans in palm weaving, knotting, dough figurines, paper-cutting, and sugar painting, inviting visitors to observe, interact, and even try the crafts themselves. These exhibitions provide Kuwait audiences with a unique, hands-on introduction to China’s intangible cultural heritage.
The two-day event not only treats the people of Kuwait to a high-quality showcase of Chinese culture, but also strengthens cultural, artistic, and tourism exchanges between China and Kuwait, providing a powerful cultural impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation.
