KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Kuwaiti authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 100 kilograms of narcotics into the country, the Ministry of Interior announced on Friday.

The General Administration for Drug Control, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs and the General Fire Force, intercepted a vehicle arriving from Iran via Shuwaikh Sea Port. Information obtained during investigations indicated that a Kuwaiti citizen planned to transport narcotics hidden in his private vehicle.

A specialized field team confirmed the intelligence, and the vehicle was monitored and seized immediately upon arrival. Fire force teams assisted in safely inspecting hidden compartments within the vehicle, given the hazardous nature of some smuggling methods.

Authorities discovered over 100 kilograms of hashish and marijuana concealed in various parts of the vehicle. The narcotics were confiscated, and the suspect was arrested and referred, along with the seized items, to the Narcotics Prosecution Office.

The Ministry of Interior said the operation underscores the efficiency and readiness of Kuwait’s security services and their ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling and protect public safety.
