KUWAIT CITY, May 25: Intensive traffic and security campaigns carried out last week by the Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic and the Emergency Police, resulted in 16,303 traffic violations, the handling of 1,369 traffic accidents, and the arrest of 111 wanted individuals, according to official statistics.
The General Directorate of Traffic alone issued 15,373 violations, while also detaining 85 expatriates for expired residency permits, including five individuals found without identification documents. Authorities also impounded 50 vehicles wanted by the courts.
Traffic officers referred 185 vehicles and 18 motorcycles to the impound lot for serious violations. In addition, they handled 169 accidents involving injuries or fatalities, while 1,049 incidents resulted only in material damage.
Separately, the General Directorate of Emergency Police apprehended 23 wanted individuals in cases related to absconding, arrest warrants, criminal convictions, and civil enforcement. The unit also detained three expatriates with expired residency permits and two individuals without identification, while impounding 25 court-wanted vehicles and breaking up four fights.
Emergency Police units issued 930 traffic violations, impounded 15 additional vehicles, responded to 151 traffic accidents, and handled 1,622 security-related operations during the same period.
Authorities said the campaigns reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen field enforcement, reduce violations, and enhance public safety across all governorates. They reaffirmed that traffic safety and community security remain top priorities, urging all road users to comply with laws and regulations to protect lives and property.
