98 percent of workers in MEW citizens KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Kuwaitis account for 74.9 percent of employees in the government sector. Kuwaiti women cover 45 percent of all the positions while 25 percent are occupied by expatriate women, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a recent governmental statistic. The statistic indicates that the highest number of Kuwaiti employees works in the Ministry of Electricity and Water with 18,762 of them accounting for 98 percent of employees, while 1,430 expatriate employees cover the remaining two percent. About 13,000 Kuwaiti employees cover 94 percent of employees at Ministry of Public Works, while 527 of them work at the Kuwait Credit Bank. The remaining 35 employees are expatriates. Ministry of Health has 26,000 Kuwaiti employees, constituting 29 percent of the entire workforce, most of who are administrative employees. In contrary, there are 36,000 expatriate employees who are responsible for primary healthcare. About 11,000 Kuwaitis work at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, constituting 67 percent of the entire workforce.
