KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The number of flights that took off from the Kuwait International Airport yesterday was 64, reports Al-Anba daily.

Of these 10 flights belonged to the Kuwait Airways Corporation, the Jazeera Airways six and 48 others belonging to various airlines.

The statistics pointed out the flights left for 16 destinations including Dubai, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Sharjah, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Addis Ababa, Amsterdam, Doha, Bahrain, London, Baku, Sharjah, Paris, Islamabad, and Oman.

The sources pointed out, there is a significant decrease in the number of flights believed to be about 60 percent since a decision was issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to suspend flights to and from 7 countries, which constitute approximately 60 to 70% of the total air traffic to and from the country.

In the meantime, the Annahar daily quoting the Deputy Director General of Kuwait International Airport Affairs at the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Saleh Al-Fadaghi said 150,000 passengers – citizens and expatriates – have left the country before the outbreak of the corona crisis and have yet to return, as most of them expatriates who are trapped outside the country following a decision issued by the Council of Ministers to cancel to and from flights from nine countries.

Total
Sources told the daily the total number of people who left the country during the national day and liberation day holidays was 250 thousand passengers, including those who returned before the spread of the coronavirus which is about 100,000 passengers.

The sources said the 150,000 travelers who remain outside prefer to stay in their countries after extending the vacation travel restriction ease, especially since things are still not clear.

Asked about change in dates of arrivals at the airport in Kuwait, Al-Fadaghi said that the spread of the virus has disrupted the entire air traffi c network at all airports not only in Kuwait.

Al-Fadaghi stressed that the outbreak of corona disease in many countries of the world decreased the rate of air traffi c in Kuwait and some countries to 25 percent, stressing there are countries that have reached 50 percent, but in China it is nearly 100 percent.

Meanwhile, precautionary measures have been introduced by the telecommunications companies in the face of the spread of the corona virus, provided employees work from their homes through a wide network and a group of major servers spanning the country, with the completion of work within a maximum of one or two weeks, reports Al-Anba daily.

The sources added that applying this process requires working on it for a few weeks to ensure its quality and subjecting it to tests more than once, especially that working on this project necessitated spending 100 thousand dinars, which is a scenario developed by the telecommunications companies if the corona virus spirals out of control by the state.
