TOKYO, Nov 10, (Xinhua): An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 struck off the Sanriku coast in northeastern Japan at around 4:23 p.m. local time (0723 GMT) Monday, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.
The temblor originated at a depth of about 10 km. While slight sea-level changes may occur, the JMA said there is no risk of tsunami damage.
The quake registered an intensity of 3 on Japan's seismic scale of 7 in several locations across the Tohoku region. No immediate injuries or damage were reported.
