‘60s’ nod to make KD 42.2 m in year

11 Insurance companies to start operating from Sunday

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Following the nod given by the Public Authority for Manpower for the non-graduate expatriates who are 60 years and above to renew their work permits for a fee in addition to the health insurance cover will generate 42.2 million dinars in the first year, reports Al- Anba daily. Informed sources said decision to renew work permits of this category of people, who are believed to number 56,000 will generate 14 million dinars as fees for renewing work permits and 28.2 million dinars to be paid to insurance policies.

The Insurance Regulatory Unit  issued a list of health insurance companies who are eligible to issue health insurance policy for expatriates above sixty years working in the private sector who hold a secondary school certificate or below.  Renewal of work permit will begin from Sunday.

List of 11 Insurance companies

The circular issued by the Insurance Unit under No. 3/2022 stated following Insurance companies have been approved to issue policies

Kuwait Insurance
Gulf Insurance Group
Al Ahlia Insurance
Warba Insurance
Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance
International Takaful Insurance
Elaf Takaful Insurance 
Boubyan Takaful Insurance
Baitak Takaful Insurance
Islamic Arab Takaful Insurance 
Enaya Insurance Company.

 Sources in the Insurance Unit said that this is not a final list as new companies who meet the condition will join the list in future and the list will be kept on updating as new Insurance companies join.
