LOS ANGELES, Feb 10, (Agencies): Pennsylvania authorities apprehended a couple accused of subjecting their 6-year-old daughter to abuse and leaving her in appalling conditions. The Pennsylvania State Police responded to a home in Brownsville, Pa., following reports of an "unresponsive" child on Jan 7.
After a thorough investigation, Jacob William Weight, 37, and Mimi Ann Frost, 33, were arrested on Feb 6. Responding officers reportedly discovered the residence in deplorable conditions, with dog feces, trash, and urine present throughout the home.
The other children residing in the house informed authorities that the 6-year-old had been confined in a dog cage, subjected to zip-tying, and beaten with a broom on multiple occasions, as stated in the official report. Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele asserted that their investigation revealed the child had been "tortured."
The child was allegedly malnourished, exhibiting abrasions and open sores on her body, according to reports from the children's hospital where she was taken. The medical evaluation also indicated a range of untreated medical and dental issues, suggesting a lack of pediatric care for years.
In a distressing revelation during therapy, the child claimed she was forced to sleep in the dog cage every night and consume dog food. Weight was accused of shooting her legs with a BB gun, and Aubele stated that the child faced punishment if she attempted to leave the cage to seek food.
Aubele expressed the disturbing contrast in the household, emphasizing that despite the severe neglect of the 6-year-old, the other five children and ten dogs in the residence were not malnourished.
Weight and Frost are now confronted with multiple charges, including assault on a minor, corruption of minors, involuntary servitude, strangulation, false imprisonment, and child endangerment, according to online court records. As they were escorted in handcuffs, Weight claimed innocence and denied the allegations, while Frost reportedly remained silent. They are currently held without bail at the Fayette County Prison, according to court records.
