6 killed in Bangkok market shooting; gunman dies by suicide
Gunman opens fire at Bangkok food market, killing six before taking his own life.

BANGKOK, July 28: At least six people were killed in a mass shooting at a fresh food market in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred at the Or Tor Kor market in the capital’s Chatuchak district, a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

The suspected shooter, identified by local media as a 61-year-old man known only as Mr. Noi, reportedly ended his own life after the attack. He was described as wearing a black T-shirt, cream-colored shorts, and carrying a camouflage-patterned backpack worn on his front.

After the shooting, Noi is said to have shot himself while sitting on a nearby bench.

Deputy Police Chief of Bang Sue district, Worapat Sukthai, told reporters, “Police are investigating the motive. So far, it’s a mass shooting.”

Authorities are also examining whether there may be any link between the shooting and ongoing border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia.

Mass shootings have become more common in Thailand, where weak enforcement of gun control laws makes firearms relatively easy to acquire.
