6-hour workday in summer
New flexible work system runs June 1 to August 31

KUWAIT CITY, May 31: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) issued an administrative circular regarding official working hours during summer, from June 1 until Aug 31, to regulate summer working hours and promote a more efficient and flexible work environment. The circular stipulates a one-hour reduction in daily working hours, bringing the total to six hours per day. According to the circular, the morning attendance period is from 7:00 to 8:00 am, and employees must leave after completing six hours of work.

The 30-minute grace period is granted for arrival after 8:00 am. The circular clarifies that female employees are entitled to the 15-minute early departure time daily, with an additional 30 minutes if the grace period is not utilized.

Regarding the evening shift, the circular indicates that it is from 5:00 to 9:30 pm, totaling 4.5 working hours per day, with a 30-minute grace period for arrival. It includes a clause for partial reduction or change in working hours, without pay, of up to four hours per day within the specified periods -- from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm or from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
