KUWAIT CITY, March 28: According to reliable sources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by sector for development affairs and international cooperation, formally addressed the Ministry of Social Affairs, accusing six charitable societies of violating the circular of the two ministries by sending relief delegations from Kuwaiti charitable work institutions to Turkey following the recent earthquake without prior coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports Aljarida daily.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discovered that some charities had violated the circular that was officially sent to them by the Ministry of Social Affairs. After stressing the need to take necessary measures regarding these violations, representatives of those associations were summoned to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday to warn them against the recurrence of such incidents in the future. The ministry revealed that there are major charitable societies with a long history in charitable work among these violating societies.
The sources said addressing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes in implementation of the Cabinet resolution No. 867/2001 that entrusts it with the tasks of supervising Kuwaiti charitable and humanitarian work abroad, in addition to the circular issued regarding the electronic system for humanitarian work. The circular had stressed not to send charitable relief delegations to Turkey without prior coordination with the ministry.
