KUWAIT CITY, March 7: The Indian Badminton Association Kuwait (IBAK) successfully conducted the 5th edition of Chairman’s Cup at its Salwa Gym (Saad Al Awzi School) on 25th, 26th, & 27thFeb 2026. IBAK Chairman’s Cup concluded on a high note after an action-packed 3-day tournament with electrifying performances, fierce competition, and remarkable sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams. The tournament once again proved to be a celebration of talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

This year’s edition featured eight dynamic teams divided into Group A & Group B and was played in the round robin format, followed by knock-out Semi-Final & Final

Each tie had 5 matches: 1 Professional Men’s Doubles, 1 Advanced Men’s Doubles, 1 Above 50 Men’s Doubles, 1 Intermediate Men’s Doubles, and a Mixed Doubles. The top 2 teams from each group advanced to the knockout stage.

Over the course of the tournament, fans witnessed a series of thrilling matches filled with intensity, skill, and determination. Each team brought its best to the field, making the competition tougher and more exciting at every stage.

The grand finale saw Team ISA deliver a commanding performance to secure victory against a resilient IBAK Torpedoes side. During the final battle Team ISA took the lead by winning the Professional Men’s Doubles but IBAK Torpedoes leveled up the score by winning the Advanced Men’s Doubles. Again, Team ISA took the lead by winning Above 50 Men’s doubles. IBAK Torpedoes again leveled up the score by winning the Intermediate Men’s doubles. Team ISA sealed victory by winning the decider match of the tie, the Mixed Doubles, in a pulsating tie.

The final match was a gripping contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the very end. With this win, Team ISA proudly lifted the Chairman’s Cup trophy, marking a memorable achievement in the tournament’s history.

The semifinal stage was equally competitive, with Team USC and IBAK Arrows emerging as strong contenders and finishing as semifinalists after a tough fight, with Team USC being beaten by IBAK Torpedoes and the IBAK Arrows losing to Team ISA.

The success of the 5th edition reflects the continued growth and spirit of the IBAK Chairman’s Cup. The tournament not only showcased athletic excellence but also strengthened camaraderie and unity among participants and supporters.

Organizers expressed their appreciation to all teams, officials, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to making this edition a grand success. As the curtain falls on another unforgettable chapter, anticipation is already building for an even bigger and better upcoming tournaments scheduled for this year.

The Chairman’s Cup 2026 prize distribution was done by Dr. Manimara Chozhan, Chairman of IBAK, along with other IBAK committee members. The top 90+ players who practice across different clubs in Kuwait participated in this tournament.

As part of this efforts, IBAK will be showcasing its premier international tournament of the year, The Kuwait Badminton Challenge (Edition No:9)which will bring top international players from around world on 26th May, 27th May and 28thMay 2026. Categories scheduled for KBC are Elite Men’s Singles, Elite Men’s Doubles, Flight 1 Men’s Doubles, Flight 2 Men’s Doubles (Kuwait Advanced Players Only), Ladies Doubles (Non-professional above 20 years), Flight 3 Doubles (Kuwait Players – M & W), Mixed Doubles, + 100 Jumbled Doubles (M & W Combo), + 110 Jumbled Doubles (M & W Combo), + 90 Jumbled Doubles (M & W Combo).
