‘Shelter must accept all’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan confirmed that around 500 Filipino domestic workers are currently staying in the Philippine Embassy, because the official shelter for distressed expatriate workers did not accept them as they were reported absconding by their sponsors, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Al-Dakhnan emphasized the need for the shelter to accept all domestic workers who are facing problems whether they were reported absconding or not. He also warned that the failure to address such issues immediately could lead to the suspension of the recruitment of Filipino workers; hence, the possible recurrence of previous problems like scarcity of domestic laborers and higher recruitment cost.
