KUWAIT CITY, May 19: Customs inspectors at the Al-Abdali Border Crossing foiled an attempt by five travelers to leave the country using forged customs transit documents and carnets, the General Administration of Customs announced.

The suspects were apprehended after a customs inspector became suspicious of the documents presented during inspection procedures. Further examination revealed that the customs transit papers had not been issued by authorized entities within the international guarantee chain for customs transit documents (CPD) and showed signs of forgery and invalidity.

Authorities said the seizure comes following warnings issued by the Kuwait International Automobile Club regarding the circulation of customs transit documents not covered by guarantees from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile and the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme. The club had stressed that any documents not issued by authorized entities under the international temporary admission system would not be recognized.

Legal procedures were immediately initiated against the five individuals, who were referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to tightening customs control and combating forgery and manipulation attempts through continued coordination with local and international authorities to safeguard border security and ensure the integrity of Kuwait’s border crossings.
