5 Kuwait police officers jailed for facilitating escape of inmate

KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Nayef Al-Dahoum, sentenced five officers from the Saad Al-Abdullah Police Station, including the station chief, to three years ' imprisonment with hard labor for facilitating the escape of a detained suspect. The court also found them guilty of committing forgery in the civil registry and enabling the suspect’s escape. The sixth defendant, the escaped detainee, was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labor. The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with facilitating the escape of a detainee from within the police station, abuse of authority, and negligence in performing their duties. In its ruling, the court stated that subordinates, regardless of their position, must not follow orders from superiors if those orders violate the law
