ISLAMABAD, Nov 29, (Xinhua): At least five people were killed and five others injured after a jeep plunged into a ravine in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, rescue officials said on Friday.
The accident occurred in the Havelian area of Abbottabad district when the vehicle, carrying 11 passengers, including schoolchildren, fell into the gorge in the Magri locality, Rescue 1122 said. Seven people were taken to a local hospital, where two died of their injuries later.
Three passengers died on the spot, according to the rescue agency. Two of the injured were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex due to their critical condition. Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road conditions and traffic rule violations.
