SEOUL, Nov 20, (Xinhua): Five people were injured on Thursday after inhaling toxic gas at a steel plant in the southeast of South Korea, according to Yonhap news agency.
Three workers collapsed while cleaning sludge outdoors at the plant of the country's steelmaker POSCO in Pohang, about 260 km southeast of the capital Seoul, around 1:30 p.m. local time. Two of them were found in cardiac arrest.
The police said all five victims in the gas inhalation accident were taken to a nearby hospital. It was believed that they were exposed to a harmful gas while cleaning around the facilities. The fire authorities stated that it was presumed to be carbon monoxide asphyxiation.
