4 killed in truck accident in Nepal's Lalitpur

KATHMANDU, Feb 14, (Xinhua): Four people were killed in a mini-truck accident in Nepal's Lalitpur, south of the capital Kathmandu, on Friday night, a senior police official said. The truck, which was carrying sand, fell off the highway, leading to the fatal accident. "While two people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment," Gautam Mishra, spokesperson for the District Police Range Lalitpur, told Xinhua.

Police are still probing the cause of the accident, he said. Road accidents are common in Nepal, claiming thousands of lives annually. Twelve people were killed after a passenger bus plunged into a river in Ramechhap district on Tuesday. The search for three children believed to have drowned in the river is still ongoing, the police said.
