370 women get houses in Taima & Sulaibiya

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Women’s Housing Affairs Committee at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) held a lottery on Thursday to allocate 370 houses in Taima and Sulaibiya, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This allocation is for female applicants whose housing requests were registered in 2020 or earlier, provided that their data are updated and they met the conditions. In a press statement, Committee Chairperson Sheikha Bibi Al-Yousef clarified that the committee considers only applicants whose data are updated and who fulfilled the requirements. She stressed that applicants who failed to update their housing requests are excluded from the lottery.

Sheikha Bibi Al-Yousef revealed that the total number of housing applications received since the committee was formed has reached 7,111. She said around 2,400 applications had been updated as of July 19, while older applications dating back to the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s have yet to be updated. She urged all applicants to cooperate with the committee and update their data in accordance with the new regulations within the specified timeframe. She pointed out that the committee announced a three-month grace period in July for female citizens to update their data, with the deadline set for Oct 19. She warned that failure to update an application within this period could result in the forfeiture of the housing request. She added that female citizens with disabilities are granted priority status in housing requests, receiving a five-year seniority advantage.

“This priority applies provided that they hold a recent disability certificate confirming moderate or severe disability, while mild disability does not qualify for this status,” she explained. Meanwhile, the committee stated that houses deemed unsuitable are addressed through a specialized committee that inspects the property. It added that if a house is confirmed to be unsuitable, it is immediately replaced. The committee affirmed its commitment to meeting the housing needs of eligible female citizens and easing their access to housing support in accordance with the regulations and criteria. The committee said the number of houses distributed depends on the housing units provided by the relevant authorities, indicating it is keen on ensuring that new housing developments are fully equipped with infrastructure and essential services like schools, health centers, cooperative societies and other amenities before the beneficiaries move in.
