KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: The General Traffic Department has intensified its nationwide field campaigns across all governorates, aiming to curb traffic violations and reduce dangerous behavior on the roads.
According to security sources, last week’s enforcement efforts led to the impounding of 517 vehicles found in violation of traffic regulations. Authorities also referred 36 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a license—an offense that continues to pose significant risks to public safety.
Over the seven days, traffic patrols issued 23,495 citations, impounded 32 motorcycles, and placed 42 individuals in the traffic detention center for various violations. Additionally, officers seized 38 vehicles linked to pending legal cases and arrested 21 expatriates for residency violations. Four individuals were also referred to the General Department for Drug Control.
The same period recorded 1,246 traffic accidents, which resulted in 208 injuries of varying severity. The source emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and safety guidelines, urging all motorists to cooperate with authorities, avoid violations, and prevent the impounding of their vehicles.
