Kuwait Shooting Federation Chairman Duaij Al-Otaibi during a press conferenceKUWAIT CITY, Jan 9, (KUNA): Some 320 shooters from 39 nations will compete in His Highness the Amir of Kuwait’s Seventh International Shooting Grand Prix, which begins on Saturday, organisers said.The event has become one of the major stops on the International Shooting Sport Federation calendar thanks to the efforts of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait Shooting Federation Chairman Duaij Al-Otaibi told a press conference. All shooting ranges and facilities are ready to host the six-day tournament, which will host all Olympic shooting disciplines, added Al-Otaibi, as he welcomed shooters from around the world to Kuwait.Several activities will be held just days ahead of the event, including the Sixth Asian Youth Skeet Training Camp and two ISSF judges’ courses for rifle, pistol and shotgun refereeing, he added. As for the Kuwaiti side, he said the nation’s shooters, some of whom have several international medals to their name, were up to the task of the competition. The country is currently focusing on its youth, who are the “future of Kuwaiti shooting,” he said.
