KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: Brigadier General Muhammad Al-Adwani, Assistant Director of the General Traffic Department for Technical Affairs, has reaffirmed the department’s unwavering commitment to combat all forms of traffic violations, particularly those stemming from unauthorized garages and workshops operating in violation of the law, reports Al-Jarida daily. During a recent security sweep in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, a notorious area for such activities, a joint committee targeted unauthorized garages and expatriates conducting vehicle repairs in makeshift outdoor spaces. Alarming trends of non-compliance with regulations were observed, prompting swift action. Notably, 32 unlicensed workshops were shut down for operating without permission, engaging in unauthorized vehicle alterations and repairs. In a recent statement Al-Adwani underscored the department’s dedication to ensuring the safety of citizens, residents, and road users by eradicating such illegal activities.

Proliferation
Al-Adwani pointed out the alarming proliferation of negative phenomena, particularly in areas like Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh, and assured the public that concerted government efforts are being mobilized to address these issues. Major Abdullah Bu Hassan, from the Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, provided further details on the campaign’s outcomes. These included the issuance of 190 traffic violations, vehicle seizures, and the closure of workshops operating without licenses. Additionally, inspectors from various government agencies apprehended violators of residency and labor laws, placed warnings on abandoned vehicles, and shuttered unlicensed restaurants and grocery stores. Furthermore, inspectors discovered stolen electrical cables in a warehouse and apprehended individuals involved in their theft. These collaborative efforts underscore Kuwait’s determination to enforce traffic laws and uphold public safety.
