KUWAIT CITY, Mar 11: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that its recent inspection campaigns in the governorates of Al-Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer resulted in the issuance of 32 violation reports and the closure of 7 market centers, with legal action taken against the offenders.
In a statement to KUNA, the ministry said the inspections, conducted under the directives of Minister Osama Boodai, aimed to ensure compliance with ministerial decisions and price regulations.
In Mubarak Al-Kabeer, inspectors issued 18 violation reports for overpricing local vegetables and one report for the unauthorized price increase of chicken. Meanwhile, in Al-Jahra, 13 violation reports were issued, and violators were referred to the Commercial Prosecution. Additionally, seven central markets were closed for artificially inflating prices and breaching price stabilization rules.
The ministry emphasized that these measures are part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen market oversight, control violations, and protect consumer rights by ensuring adherence to approved prices.
