KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has shut down an illegal tire refurbishing operation following an inspection campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area.
The ministry’s Supervision and Inspection Team conducted a series of field visits to garages in the area, during which they discovered a warehouse engaged in the unauthorized storage and resale of used car tires. According to officials, the operators were collecting worn-out tires, cleaning and reconditioning them, and presenting them for sale to consumers as usable products.
Authorities seized approximately 3,000 used tires from the premises. Inspectors also uncovered specialized equipment, including a polishing machine and tools used for refurbishing and restoring the tires.
The warehouse was immediately ordered to close, and legal action has been initiated against those responsible. The ministry emphasized that such practices pose potential safety risks to consumers and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing regulations and protecting public safety through ongoing inspection campaigns.
