KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Seven Asian expatriates including three women were arrested from a house in Salwa area where liquor was being manufactured. According to security sources, when Hawally securitymen received information that a group of Asian expatriates were manufacturing liquor inside a house in Salwa area, a team was formed for investigations.

After obtaining permission from the Public Prosecution, they raided the house and confiscated 1,500 bottles and 250 barrels of locally manufactured liquor as well as related equipment. They arrested seven Asian expatriates including three women who were in the house and referred them with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for further investigations.

Five offices shut: Teams affiliated to the Domestic Workers Department recently embarked on an inspection campaign against some domestic workers labor offices in Hawalli and Ahmadi governorates during which they arrested an Egyptian and an Ethiopian for illegal recruitment of domestic workers. According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the officials also closed down five offices where some domestic workers who ran away from their sponsors were being sheltered. The arrested individuals were referred to concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Injuries in fight: A quarrel broke out between two Kuwaiti citizens and three Syrian expatriates in Jahra Governorate in front of a popular commercial complex, during which they sustained injuries and bruises, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the quarrel, securitymen rushed to the location to discover the brawlers were taken to Jahra Hospital in private vehicles because they had sustained injuries. Securitymen went to the hospital and took the suspects to the police station of the area after they received necessary treatment from the hospital. Investigations revealed that an argument between the two parties quickly developed into an exchange of blows. Necessary action was taken against them. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen informed Ardiya Police Station that three unknown individuals assaulted his son while he was standing in front of his house. He revealed that they were driving a US-made vehicle. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to find and arrest the suspects.
