3 seriously injured in home invasion attack south of Sydney

SYDNEY, Feb 22, (Xinhua): Three men have been hospitalized with serious injuries after a home invasion stabbing attack south of Sydney in the early hours of Sunday morning. A statement issued by the police in the state of New South Wales (NSW) said that emergency services were deployed to reports of a home invasion in the suburb of Flinders, 85 km south of Sydney, around 3:40 am on Sunday.

Police officers arrived and were told that a group of four unknown men with their faces covered, one of whom was armed with a knife, had forced entry into a garage and assaulted a 20-year-old male occupant.

Three other residents, men aged 19 and 43 and a 37-year-old woman, attempted to assist, but were also assaulted before the attackers fled the scene on foot. All three men were treated by ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital in serious conditions. Police established a crime scene at the home and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
