3 ministries to monitor nurseries

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: According to reliable sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs, there is a tendency to transfer the affiliation of nurseries from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Ministry of Education, provided there is joint supervision among the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, each as per its mandate according to the government’s action plan in the field of child care and education, reports Al-Anba daily.

Regarding the need to amend the legislation on the Child Protection Law as per which the Ministry of Social Affairs is responsible for regulating the work of nurseries, the sources said, “The matter of the legislation and the extent of the need for amendment is based on a vision set by the Secretariat General for Planning and Development”. On the other hand, they indicated that the Supreme Council for the Family, in its last meeting in the Cabinet, took a special decision for the formation of the Special Committee for the Empowerment of Women and a Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence as stipulated in the law on Protection from Domestic Violence.
