KUWAIT CITY, Mar 4: Authorities have moved swiftly against individuals accused of mocking the nation’s military institutions, as the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of two people for publishing video clips that ridiculed the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and belittled the efforts of the country’s air defense system.

The arrests came as part of ongoing monitoring of social media platforms. According to the Ministry, the videos contained phrases and scenes deemed offensive and dismissive of the Armed Forces’ national duty. Officials described the content as unacceptable behavior that undermines the prestige and standing of the military institution.

Following investigations and confrontation with digital evidence gathered through search and inquiry operations, the two individuals reportedly admitted to filming and publishing the material. They have been taken into custody and referred to the competent legal authorities for further action.

In a separate case, authorities also apprehended another individual accused of misusing social media to post statements containing insults and content harmful to Kuwait’s international relations. The account reportedly featured images of leaders of designated terrorist organizations in its profile, prompting immediate legal intervention.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated its repeated warnings on the responsible use of social media, stressing that publishing or circulating material that harms military institutions or undermines the interests and foreign relations of the State will not be tolerated.

Calling on the public to uphold their national responsibilities, the Ministry emphasized that the law will be applied firmly against anyone found to have crossed legal boundaries — particularly amid the sensitive circumstances facing Kuwait and the wider region.
