3 Kuwaitis, Lebanese Sentenced to 10 Years for Joining, Funding Hezbollah

KUWAIT CITY: The State Security Appeals Court has issued verdicts in two cases involving the alleged financing and membership of Hezbollah, sentencing four defendants to 10 years in prison and imposing a combined fine of KD 6.283 million.

In the first case, the court sentenced three Kuwaiti citizens and a Lebanese national to 10 years in prison and fined them KD 6.283 million after convicting them of joining and financing Hezbollah. The court acquitted other defendants, including a Kuwaiti woman. The cases followed investigations by Kuwait’s State Security Service and the Financial Intelligence Unit.

In a separate case, the court sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to seven years in prison and a KD 6 million fine after finding him guilty of joining and financing Hezbollah through a charitable committee. The case also follows an earlier ruling by the Court of Cassation against the accused.
