3 Kuwaiti Customs Staff Arrested In Lyrica Smuggling Scheme

KUWAIT CITY, March 23: Security sources disclosed to Al-Seyassah/Arab Times that the Criminal Security Sector, led by the General Administration for Narcotics Control and overseen by Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Hamid AlDawas and Brigadier General Muhammad Qabazard, apprehended three customs employees. They stand accused of aiding a smuggler to smuggle in a bags of Lyrica pills two weeks ago.
Some of the suspects confessed to receiving bribes for facilitating the entry of these bags. The individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation. The arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the smuggling of one million narcotic pills from the Emirates by a Kuwaiti citizen via the airport two weeks ago. This operation involved Kuwaiti-Emirati security cooperation, leading to the arrest of an Egyptian resident in the Emirates, who was found in possession of 2.75 million narcotic pills, bringing the total seizure to 3.75 million Lyrica pills.
