RIYADH, Oct 7: Three people were killed and 36 others injured after separate attacks targeted Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport on October 6 and 7, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said Wednesday.
At Abha International Airport, two female residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian, were killed. Another 28 people — including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident and a Filipino resident — were injured, with their conditions ranging from minor to critical.
At King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, one Sudanese resident was killed and eight people were injured. The injured included five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident. All those injured were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
GACA said the attacks also caused property damage. Emergency teams and relevant authorities responded immediately, while authorities are assessing the damage, checking the safety of airport facilities and taking measures to ensure the security of passengers and the continuity of safe civil aviation operations.
